This 32-year old patient from Carlsbad, California was interested in a “Mommy Makeover”. After pregnancy and nursing 3 children, the patient thought she would benefit from tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), and breast augmentation with a lift (mastopexy) surgery. She had lost a significant amount of the post-baby weight and was unhappy with the loose, saggy skin in her abdomen area. An extended tummy tuck involves a standard tummy tuck with a back lipectomy to improve the flank area as well. A breast lift with augmentation could be performed at the same time as the tummy tuck.

Drains are required to avoid fluid accumulation and are worn for at least 2 weeks to prevent seroma. A pain pump is also provided to assist in recovery and healing.

The patient is instructed to pick out pictures of what she would like to look like. Dr. Pousti places theses photos on the wall to refer to during the surgery.

The patient wanted a full and natural look. To achieve cleavage and perkiness, a breast lift (mastopexy) with breast implants was performed for fullness and cleavage. Temporary sizers were used to see what size breast implant would be used.

The night before surgery, markings are performed to ensure accurate and precise measurements. During the markings, Dr. Pousti explains the procedure in detail and addresses any concerns or issues the patient may have before the procedure takes place. Incision lines are placed in discrete areas, usually underneath the underwear line or bikini.

A breast lift (mastopexy) was performed using a “lollipop” incision. The “x” markings, represent where the nipple-areola complex will be placed. Additional liposuction of the flanks was performed to provide more body contouring to improve the waistline.

At this time, the patient is only 2-weeks out of surgery. Swelling and bruising is to be expected, but will subside over time. The patient is extremely happy with her results and loves the obvious drastic changes in her breasts and abdominal muscles.

I’m a 42 yr old Mom of two gigantic children. One was born in 1993 and weighed 9 lb 5 0z and was 2 weeks early (he’s 14 yrs old and 6′2 175 lbs now), and the other was born just April of 2007 and weighed in at 9 lb 10 oz and was almost 2 wks early as well. Temporary sizers are used to determine what size implants are needed to achieve the look that the patient wants. He refers to the pictures that the patient brought in when determining the size.

Internal sutures are used and will dissolve over time. As the sutures dissolve, the ”puckered” look of the incisions will smoothen out and heal into a very fine line, which will fade with time.
