Mommy Makeover Testimonial

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

I came in to see Dr Pousti , for a Mommy Makeover. Having 3 kids all weighing over 9lbs; really took a toll on my body.  I would find myself exercising, and not losing my belly.  It was very frustrating. The day I came in for my consultation, I was immediately welcomed by his wonderful staff.  I really felt like I belonged there.  After meeting with the Doctor, My husband and I knew he was the one.  Dr. Pousti really listened to my concerns, and answered all of my husbands and my questions. (There were a lot of them.) The best thing about his office was the fact that I got to meet and talk to all kinds of patients that had the same things done.  We decided that I was going to have a breast lift with implants, and I full tummy tuck; which goes all the way around to my backside, to get rid of my muffin top. The day of the surgery came quick, and I was very scared. Dr. Pousti and the hospital staff were there letting me know everything was going to be OK. I felt so much better. The surgery was 6 hrs long and it went smoothly. The first week was very painful, and I don’t remember too much about it; other than it hurt. The time flew by very fast, and by the 6th day I didn’t need any more pain meds.  I am now 8 weeks out, and I not only feel amazing; but I look amazing as well.  I look forward to my appointments at his office. His staff is so warm and caring.  Dr Pousti did an amazing job on me. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. He is truly a gifted surgeon; A real artist. He has raised my confidence so much. I would recommend him to anybody. I feel very blessed to have had Dr Pousti to perform my surgery.

Mommy Makeover Testimonial

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Its been a year since my mommy makeover; and I couldn’t be happier with my body. I look and feel great. I couldn’t have asked for a better surgeon. A few months ago; Dr. Pousti noticed I had a small leak in my left breast.(It was actually a blessing in disguise.) He went in, fixed it, and made them fuller. :) Because I had a breast lift during my first surgery; I couldn’t go as full as I wanted without putting my healing at risk. (That’s why it was a blessing in disguise.) Needless to say; my boobs now look perfect. Plus the healing time was a piece of cake!!! I love my DR. and his staff. It may sound funny; but it’s true. The whole staff is very friendly and has always set the tone by providing a welcoming and comfortable environment. I always look forward to my appointments. I can’t thank Dr. Pousti enough for what he has done for me. He’s amazing. I feel BEAUTIFUL; and I haven’t felt this way in a long, long time.

Thank You ,

Mommy Makeover/Hernia Repair

Monday, August 15th, 2011

After having children, this mother of 3 from Chula Vista, California was left with damaged muscle and loose skin around her abdomen after pregnancy. While doing some research online the patient came across Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Pousti. While looking on his website she found a procedure called “mommy makeover”. Mommy makeovers usually include an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) along with breast lift and augmentation.

During pregnancy, the lining of the abdominal muscles can rip and the abdomen can develop a bulge. In this patient’s case no matter how much she diets and exercises, she will not be able to get rid of her “bulge”. The patients muscle damage is so severe and can only be repaired surgically.

Markings of the breast and abdomen are performed in the office and the mommy makeover procedure is reviewed in detail with the patient in the mirror.

DSC09807

During markings Dr. Pousti explains how the damaged muscle will be repaired and how the excess skin will be removed.

DSC09811

When the patient flexes the abdomen you can see the diastais present after muscle damage caused by pregnancies.

DSC09818

Once the patient is in the operating room an incision is made in an area that can be easily hidden by a bathing suit or the patient’s undergarments.

More measurements and markings are done once the abdomen is exposed.

DSC06419

The two outer lines drawn will be brought into the center and sutured together. This works as a girdle helping repair the muscle and holding in the bulge.

You can see below the comparison between the bottom portion of the abdomen (which has been repaired) and the upper portion (still damaged).

Once the repair is complete the loose skin is pulled down and the excess is removed.

Once the abdominoplasty is performed Dr. Pousti performs the mastopexy and breast augmentation. In order to achieve this patient’s goal 500cc Silicone implants were used.

After having children, this 36 year old Mommy was unhappy with her post-baby body. After pregnancy and breast-feeding this patient was interested in  a tummy tuck and breast augmentation surgery. While searching online the patient came across Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon Dr. Pousti, and saw he also specialized in Mommy Makeover surgeon.

After looking at several before and after pictures of mommy makeovers performed by Dr. Pousti, the patient was sure Dr. Pousti was the surgeon to perform her surgery. The patient explained, she wanted her abdominal muscle repaired and to remove the excess skin and adipose tissue (fat tissue) around her abdominal area and also add fuller (bigger) but still natural looking breasts. During the examination, the patient also discussed with Dr. Pousti that she needed an umbilical hernia repair. Dr. Pousti explained to the patient that both of these procedures could be performed at the same time. The complications and risks were discussed in full detail and the patient decided to proceed with the procedures.

Umbilical hernia is typically developed in and around the umbilicus (belly button). Umbilical hernia is a congenital weakness (present since birth) in the naval (belly button) region where vessels of the fetal and infant umbilical cord channel through the muscle of the abdominal wall. After birth, even though the umbilical cord disappears, the weak point or gap in the muscle may continue. Hernias can occur in this area at any time from birth through late adulthood.

After the hernia has been repaired, Dr. Pousti repairs the abdominal wall muscles, which had been stretched from pregnancy (abdominal wall laxity).

Immediately after surgery.

Silicone gel breast implants were used in both breasts, due to slight asymmetry 492cc was used in the right breast and 457cc in the left breast for symmetry, breast implants were placed under the muscle (submuscular).

After tummy tuck surgery, the body produces fluid called Seroma, drains are placed to remove fluid build up and usually stays in for about 2 weeks. The patient will follow up with Dr. Pousti every week for the first 4 weeks for close observation.

Mommy Makeover

Monday, August 15th, 2011

While searching on the internet, this patient from Northern,CA came across Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Pousti. The patient had been interested in having a  ‘mommy makeover‘ for several years. Her pregnancy left her with excess skin and loss of breast volume. The mommy makeover is usually a combination of a breast procedure and abdominoplasty but in some cases can also be liposuction.

The patient had expressed her concerns with her stretch marks and appearance of her belly button and was impressed with the fact that Dr. Pousti did belly button reconstruction during the abdominoplasty and that some of her stretch marks could be removed.

Prior to surgery the patient met with Dr. Pousti again to discuss her options. Dr. Pousti explained the breast and abdominal procedures. He also took measurements and made markings which were reviewed with her in the mirror.

Markings of the breast lift are rechecked the morning of surgery in the operating room. The red ‘x’ marked on both breasts indicate where the new location of the nipple-areola complex will be.

Before the actual breast implant is used a sizer is set in place and the incisions are temporarily closed using staples. The patient is then set in an upright position and her look is compared to the pictures that she brought in of her desired look. Once the size of the implant is determined sterile saline implants are then placed in the submuscular position.

DSC04672

After the breast augmentation and mastopexy are performed Dr. Pousti moves onto the second procedure, the abdominoplasty. During the tummy tuck an incision is made from hip to hip and then cautery is used to control blood loss.

DSC04676

The skin is then carefully separated from the muscle. Once the muscle is exposed repair is performed. During pregnancy and weight loss can result in muscle damage and to repair these muscles each side of the abdomen is pulled into the center to create an internal girdle.

DSC04678

The excess skin is then removed and incisions are closed with internal and external sutures.

Patient Testimonial

Patient Testimonial:

I initially came across Dr. Pousti’s name on one of the many plastic surgery forums and the more sites I visited, the more his name camp up. Not only were the pictures documenting his patient’s results spectacular, but the reviews and testimonials of the care received convinced me that I had to at least meet for a consultation.

During my consultation, I knew that this was going to be my surgeon. Dr. Pousti has a demeanor that instantly puts you at ease. All of my questions were answered and concerns addressed, but more importantly Dr. Pousti gave me the confidence that the results I was looking for was achievable. When they say a picture is worth a thousand words, in this instance, it is everything AND in this office, not only do you see pictures-you meet with actual patients! For me, this practice is invaluable; I had the opportunity to ask questions and hear about experiences firsthand. Needless to say I left with my surgery date scheduled.

My results are better than I ever hoped for. When I look at the pictures that I brought to Dr. Pousti as examples of what I wanted to achieve I am satisfied beyond words-his skill as a surgeon and aesthetic eye for beauty gave me exactly what I envisioned. There may be other surgeons capable of providing similar results, but I doubt that they have the personable qualities as Dr. Pousti. He is one of the kindest, gentlest, honest Doctors that I have had the pleasure to meet. In a word “Genuine”. His office goes above and beyond to ensure his patient’s comfort, both physically and emotionally. The quality of care and the personal attention that I have received throughout my transformation (and yes, it had been a transformation) is too numerous to address here.

If you are considering plastic surgery, please do yourself the favor of meeting with Dr. Pousti and his team. It is one of the best decisions I have made, everyday I look in the mirror and absolutely love what I see.
